Lead And The Environment
<view this essay>.... times, lead
has found a wide range of uses, and world demand for lead and its products has
steadily increased. Lead's usefulness stems from the metal's many desirable
properties: softness, high density, low melting point, ability to block
radiation, resistance to corrosion, readiness to form alloys and chemical
compounds, and ease of recycling. Its versatility, as well as its physical and
chemical properties, accounted for its extensive use. Lead can be rolled into
sheets which can be made into rods and pipes. It can also be molded into
containers and mixed with other metallic elements.
Lead was used in ancient times for making coinage, art objects and water .....

Center Of Gravity
<view this essay>.... way or another.
The center of gravity of a symmetrical uniform object lies at the
object's center, but it may lie outside the center if any weight is added
or subtracted. Many toys that have trouble balancing themselves, have their
actual center of gravity far from where an observer would locate it.
Another example of the importance of the center of gravity is how
an airplane flies. If the center of gravity is too far forward, the plane
will have an unstable equilibrium and in turn will take a nose dive into
the ground. If the center of gravity is too far aft (back) the plane will
fall out of control.
You must limit the weight and its positioning on board .....

Censorship
<view this essay>.... of television would be unsuitable for our younger viewers because helps to filter out the appearances of nudity, real life violence, the use of profanity and other obscene gestures during the youth viewing hours. However, during the prime time viewing hours it’s a different story. The method the television stations use is a mere waste of time and money because a little symbol in the corner of the screen is not going to prevent a child from watching the program. The only way this method can work is if the
parents/guardian is there to change the channel but let’s be realistic, how many parents/guardians actuarially have the time to monitor everything t .....

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the issue of secure payment. In so doing, I will explore how secure is secure.
Commerce on the internet consists mainly of passing credit card numbers and expiry date information electronically between the merchant and the customers. When commerce is conducted over the internet, a network is open to milions of potentially prying eyes. Moreover, there is no one to verify the validity of the credit card. To ensure that the person .....

Galileo And The Telescope
<view this essay>.... very big contradiction to Aristotle’s theory. To Aristotleans the world was the center of the universe and that it was perfect. This showed us the holes in the celestial realm. It is not perfect like people believed it to be. If the moon had all of these imperfections, then any other member of the universe could also be this way. It also showed the Earth to be just a planet. Not the unique figure thought to be. It is not unique. In fact, it was regular because the moon also had the same properties.
The second observation was the four moons of Jupiter. Galileo observed points of light that changed their positions with time around the Planet. These points .....

Euthanasia
<view this essay>.... medical treatment, as moral.
Another position advocates that passive euthanasia is acceptable when the person to die has consented. Other positions include situations where a terminally ill patient is unable to consent as justifiable, because it resolves a hopeless situation. Conversely, even with this gradation, some opponents to euthanasia believe that voluntary, passive euthanasia is the same as suicide; involuntary euthanasia is considered to be murder.
Because euthanasia poses classic dilemmas as to its morality, it is not surprising that many issues arise in the legal and medical arenas. In law, the resolution of a particular case cannot always be a .....

agricultural land in Central America was occupied by cattle and other livestock.
More than half the rual families in Central America-35 million people-are now
landless or own too litle land to support themselves. Cattle are also a major
cause of desertification around the planet. Today about 1.3 billion cattle are
trampling and stripping much of the vegetative cover from the earth's remaining
grasslands. Each animal eats its way through 900 pounds of vegetation a month.
Without plants to anchor the soil, absorb the water, and recycle the nutrients,
the land has become inc .....

Genetic Observations Through The Studies Of Hybrid Corn, Single Gene Human Traits, And Fruit Flies
<view this essay>.... frequencies for single human gene traits. Lastly, we
dealt with Drosophila melanogaster and we examined red and white eye alleles to
determine if this gene is sex-linked or autosomal.
During the mid 1800’s Mendel bred garden peas to study inheritance. He
choose these plants because of their well defined characteristics and the
ability to be grown and crossed (Campbell, 1996). Mendel wanted to know the
genetic basis for variation among individuals and what accounted for the
transmission of traits from generation to generation. Mendel followed traits
for the P generation, F1 generation, and F2 generation. The P generation is the
original true-breeding p .....
