How America Should React To Ho
<view this essay>.... was viewed as a disease, were continued. Today, when research on twins suggests that sexual orientation is not a choice, but our genetic predisposition, homosexual acts are still considered to be immoral and even illegal in majority of countries and in the eyes of most religious groups homosexuals, probably, always will be the subjects of anathema. As much as the future may look gloomy for many gays and lesbians all over the world, there are remarkable changes in public opinion and officials’ attitudes toward homosexuals in some countries. For example, in 1989 Denmark was the first to allow the same-sex marriage. In the United States the subject of homos .....

Essay On The F.B.I.
<view this essay>.... the Department of Justice (DOJ). Before that time, the DOJ had to borrow Agents from the U.S. Secret Service to investigate violations of federal criminal laws within its jurisdiction. In 1909, the Special Agent Force was renamed the Bureau of Investigation, and after a series of name changes, it received its present official name in 1935.
During the early period of the FBIs history, its agents investigated violations of mainly bankruptcy frauds, antitrust crime, and neutrality violation. During World War One, the Bureau was given the responsibility of investigating espionage, sabotage, sedition (resistance against lawful authority), and draft violations. The .....

John Marshall: Chief Justice And His Rulings
<view this essay>.... branches.
Jackson undermined the power and judgement of John Marshall. The first that depicts this is Jackson's highly controversial veto of the rechartering of the National Bank. One of this explanations for this decision was that he felt the bank was unconstitutional, regardless of the fact that Marshall had previously ruled that the bank was in fact with in the range of the "elastic clause" in the constitution.
Later, Marshall ruled in the case of the Cherokee's vs. Georgia that the Cherokees did not have to leave their land, and yield to the government of Georgia. This was an attack on State's rights and Jackson quickly reacted. Jackson made .....

The Death Penalty: Justifiable
<view this essay>.... not all cold blooded murderers
should receive it. Premeditated and sometimes on the spot murders are also
candidates, but that depends on how the victim was treated before the murder.
Was he/she abused or tormented in a severe way? Or was the victim raped? I would
also take into account, the number of people killed by the murderer. Those are
not the only things to take into account, but I will stop here.
It was August 3, the year was 1986. A man named Esquel Banda had just
raped, stabbed and strangled a 74 year old widow by the name of Merle Laird in
her own house. Banda then sucked the blood from the woman's mouth.
Does that describe a kind, gentle man, w .....

Lincoln's Battle With His Cabinet
<view this essay>.... made it almost mandatory for certain individuals
to be appointed to cabinet posts. He ruled his cabinet with an iron hand,
and often acted without cabinet consent or advice. Although his opponents
called his method of rule "dictatorial" and "unconstitutional," it was the
only effective way to get anything done (Simmons 142).
In the beginning, Lincoln's secretary of state, William H. Seward,
clearly considered himself the President's superior, and blandly offered to
assume the executive responsibility. He entered the cabinet with the
thought of becoming the power behind the Presidential chair and openly
opposed Lincoln's control of the Union. This ma .....

Bill Clinton's Election Will Brighten America's Future

our problems, he at least is addressing them. For instance, on the subject
of the environment, Clinton has encouraged higher auto emissions standards
and more environmental technologies. His vice-president, Al Gore, has even
written a book on protecting the earth. While Republicans argue that
legislative action will hurt business, it seems to me that they are not
looking long-term. Isn't protecting the freedom of future generations more
important than catering to the moneyed special interests of logging and
automobiles? Another issue Clinton will have more success in solving is
racial conflicts. As evidenced by the Los Angeles riots, racial tensi .....

Industrial Revolution
<view this essay>.... American Dream, and yet oppressed by selfish, greed driven upper class. With the introduction of the machinery, factory owners no longer needed “skilled” craft workers for production of factory goods. The machines performed faster, better and with more reliability. At most jobs in factories required neither great strength no special skills any more. The owners thought women could do the work just as well as or better than men. In addition, they were more “docile” and “compliant”. Therefore, many women workers were hired during the progressivism era. Even though the wage was low, working hours were long and working condition was less than satisfactory, these wom .....

The Graying Of America
<view this essay>.... the interim, by approximately 2013 the
federal government will have to raise taxes, increase the debt, print more money,
reduce Social Security benefits immediately, or do some combination of those
things to rectify the Social Security cash-flow imbalance. The surplus will be
gone. The amounts needed by the Social Security system, even in the early years,
are not insignificant. In 2015 experts believe that the government will have to
find approximately $57 billion to meet its obligations. By 2020 the number will
have grown to $232 billion.
The demographic makeup of America is changing. The share of the population over
the age of 65 will continue to grow well .....
