Virtually every job is open to women in the military; infantry, submarines, and artillery are the only ones that are still off limits (Congressional Quarterly Weekly, 1996, p. 368). The only focus of my paper is whether there is still a need to ban women from direct combat. First, let me explain the distinction between combat support units and direct combat units. The military changed its definition of direct combat for women. This opened up more jobs for women that had been off-limits (Congressional Quarterly Researcher, 1992, p. 844). The performance of women in these positi .....

<view this essay>.... The
Federalist party was the first political party to hold a congressional
caucus. In creating the Electoral college, the constitutional convention
explicitly rejected a proposal to have Congress elect the President. The
Electoral College is still the center of the system, but all the related
institutions and processes have changed dramatically. This is because the
Constitution is so vague. It contains no provisions for organizing
political parties, nominating candidates or campaigning for office. The
Framers, assumed, incorrectly of course, that the selection process would
be a reasonable one that would transcend partisanship. The original

Hardships Of Southern Sharecro
<view this essay>.... southern share croppers was their lack of education. There were several reasons the share croppers didn’t get the education they needed. One main reason was because many children didn’t go to school. Harold Walker writes that Southern cotton states ranked lower in rate of attendance for each student enrolled than any of the other states in the nation (4). A factor that contributed to this was their excessive mobility, which inhibited many children from going to school (Corder 27). It is common knowledge that any child who constantly moves around will not be able to attend school on a regular basis, and even if they go to a school when they get a chance they w .....

RAP CENORSHIP
<view this essay>.... less influential but still passionate religious and government authorities. Their new techniques are market-censorship (dominating the marketplace), constituitive censorship (the control of language), power-knowledge (restricting knowledge), as well as the traditional regulative censorship (law). These new forces can be as equally effective as the forces of remote history. We notice the effect of post-enlightenment civilization as early as the nineteenth-century in the great Russian humanist Aleksandr Herzin. Herzin left his native country in protest of Czarist censorship only to feel "profound disillusionment with the extremely narrow limits of permission i .....

Women And The Canadian Welfare State: The Decline Of Social Welfare And Its Effects On Women
<view this essay>.... concerns, the government feels as though social welfare is the least of their worries (Evans and Wekerle, 1997: pgs. 45-57).
The Canadian welfare state began to decline during the reign of the Mulroney government during the early 90's; with economic crises arising on a daily basis, the government decided to cut social spending and instead focus their energies and resources on combatting recession, labour market restructuring, and the deficit. The transformation and "reform" of the welfare state has huge implications on the lives of many women, and not only those who are dependent on welfare for their livelihood. Welfare, especially women's welfare, encompasses .....
