Dickinson's Poem #465: Buzzing Bye
<view this essay>.... is a way of providing closure and creating a somewhat dead world before actually passing on. I feel that the speaker has come to that point of closure; then she sees a fly: “Signed away What portion of me be Assignable-and then it was There interposed a Fly” (9-12). I interpret this statement to say that she has closed out all that was her life, and is ready to pass on, when the presence of a pesky fly seems to catch her attention. The introduction of this fly - a part of the world she has closed out - signals that her life is not quite complete. Perhaps she has not succeeded in gaining final closure.
There comes a time in life when it is necessary to co .....

Comparing "We Wear The Mask" By Dunbar And "Richard Cory"
<view this essay>.... show how people really feel. We smile to hide the pain in our hearts. In the lines "Why should the world be over-wise, In counting all our tears and signs?" (6-7) Dunber is telling us not to show feelings. Why bother others with our troubles? We sing, laugh, and smile even though we are hurting and "let the world dream otherwise" (14) to hide our suffering.
"Richard Cory" is about a man that everyone in town admires. "When ever Richard Cory went down town, We people on the pavement looked at him: He was a gentlemen from sole to crown" (1-3). He stood out in a crowd because of his polished fashion. "And he was always quietly arrayed, and he was always .....

Owen's “Dulce Et Decorum Est”
<view this essay>.... use of all three of these tools, this poem conveys a strong
meaning and persuasive argument. The poem's use of excellent diction helps
to more clearly define what the author is saying. Words like "guttering",
"choking", and "drowning" not only show how the man is suffering, but that
he is in terrible pain that no human being should endure. Other words like
writhing and froth-corrupted say precisely how the man is being tormented.
Moreover, the phrase "blood shod" shows how the troops have been on their
feet for days, never resting. Also, the fact that the gassed man was
"flung" into the wagon reveals the urgency and occupation with fighting.
The only th .....

Barbie Doll: An Analysis
<view this essay>.... She played with toys, makeup e.t.c. It was the simplicity of childhood. All these innocent ideas and views ended when she became surrounded by the pressures of puberty. The word "magic" can be used to symbolize good or bad, but in this poem it signifies the stage of puberty in terms of developing a child's identity. It holds a negative meaning for it marks the beginning of the character's downfall. With one comment from a classmate, all her beauty, intelligence and all that she believed to be slowly faded under the standards of society.
In the second paragraph, her true identity & characteristics are further described in more detail. She had everything a "nor .....

The Poetry Of William Cullen Bryant And Emily Dickinson: The Theme Of Death
<view this essay>.... poems in first person view, but the way they describe what happens to you
after death is what is very dissimilar. In the poem when she says "We passed
the school where children played ,We passed the the fields of blazing grain,"
shows her use of Idealisation of Nature.Bryants whole poem is Idealisation of
nature, by choosing but one sentence would be cutting the poem short.By both
authors using the same romantic element is just another example of how they are
similar.
Thanatopsis and Because i could not stop for Death, are somewhat
dissimilar , for instance when in Dickinsons poem when she says "We slowly drove
he knew no haste," she is referring about .....

The Saginaw Song
<view this essay>.... concentrate on the particulars.
Every image here deserves to be pondered and tasted to the full, for its emotional richness. The overall tone and feeling contains love and pain and humor and nostalgia all blended. This is a poem worth memorizing.
The structure of the poem rhymes at the end of each line, while the sentences end at each quatrain. The rhyme scheme is consistent throughout the piece and each line rhymes with every other line. For example, in the first line ‘whiskey on your breath’ rhymes with ‘but I hung on like death’ on the third line. The words breath and death are dominant words that reveal a somber tone, which runs throughout the piece .....
