Personal Writing: The College Experience
<view this essay>.... necessary questions.
Another big difference between high school academics and college academics is
the importance of the test. Unlike in high school, where daily assignments can
help to pad a grade, the main source of grading in college is the test. With
possibly only three tests per semester in certain classes, I am under a heavy
burden to do well on each test. Also, with all of the independence I now have,
homework and studying are not always my first priorities. I would much rather
spend time with my friends, watch television, or go to a party than do my
schoolwork. I have found that all the distractions that are present in college
life lead to procrastina .....

pregnancy. I believe that the sex education programs being used today are not
effective at controlling these three problems. Today's sex education programs
are abstinence based. "Washington has spent some $31.7 million developing
abstinence only curricula" (Shapiro 56). By looking at the problems sex
education tries to solve, we can improve the sex education programs by putting
the problems in order of importance. This will prove that teens having sex at a
younger age is the reason for the failure of sex education in this country. To

Supertitions
<view this essay>.... 13TH
The Bible is often considered a book of numbers. In the Bible the numbers 7, 12 and 40 appear throughout the Old and New Testaments. The number 12 is considered a lucky number. As a result, the number which follows 12 was thought to be evil.
Known scientifically as "Tridecaphobia," fear of the number 13 is probably the most common of all superstitions. Buildings avoid numbering the 13th floor. Airplanes avoid the 13th aisle. And most common of all, Friday the 13th is considered a bad luck day.
Psychologists believe that Friday the 13th will become a day of bad luck if people focus on the day because people will create their own bad luck by paying atte .....

This was not the first time that I had bathed a person during the placement, however, the difference this time was that while I was washing ‘John’, he would display elf-injurious behaviour by slapping his face and then repeating the phrase ‘stop slapping face’. I chose this incident from my clinical diary as I feel that the that ‘John’ exhibited is an interesting and difficult Nursing problem and one, which affected my ability to care for him.
Rather than focussing on the self-injury specifically related to ‘John’s’ .....

Youth Violence
<view this essay>.... and steering kids away from gang influences, the most effective is training in conflict resolution because it gives kids another alternative to fighting.
There are many different reasons as to why kids administer violence. Families, neighborhoods, peer groups, television, schools, and your personal factors are the main reasons. According to Joy G. Dryfoos, “Children who demonstrate antisocial behavior come from very non-supportive families at two extremes: either the family is repressive and abusive, or it seriously neglects the child from the early years on” (71). Parental neglect is a strong predictor of violence in a child, and parental re .....

Canada Broadcast Industry
<view this essay>.... a question. Does this tend to subscribe to what Vipond calls "technological determinism?" And answer should be "Yes". According to Vipond's idea of "technological determinism", technology is an autonomous and relentless force, over which society has little or no control over it. It has great influences on our economy, culture, and the society. Already, in the face of advances and rapid changes of technologies, the communications environment begins to put more emphasis on the carrier rather than the content. Several initiatives, proposed by CRTC, are typical examples of it. Society has little control over it. Once it was out, you must adapt it for better util .....
