Marijuana As A Medicine

Prenatal Diagnosis

Used to identify chromosome abnormalities and certain genetic disorders as early as 10-12 weeks of pregnancy. The test is done by inserting a thin flexible tube through the woman's vagina and cervix, into the early placenta. A small sample of chorionic villi is removed and taken for laboratory testing. The chorionic villi has the same genetic makeup as the fetus because it is of fetal origin. Chorionic villus sampling will detect up to 99% of chromosome abnormalities.
