How "First Love" Is Represented By Different Artists
<view this essay>.... the artists play a significant role in
determining the lives of the artists and their topics of writing. In Robert
Hayden's "Those Winter Sundays," Hayden writes about his father and the
abandonment his family showed him even though he worked so hard to provide
for them. Hayden writes, "…cracked hands that ached from labor in the
weekday blaze. No one ever thanked him" (590). Most artists observe the
fact that they did not know of their first loves and do not realize their
mistakes with their first loves until they are grown up and are writing
about it. It probably provides them with a good topic to start writing
about in the first place. The lack of realizatio .....

Beowulf
<view this essay>.... it makes it sound a lot better, and gives a new meaning to the sun rising in the morning. Another example that Christianity existed during the Anglo-Saxon period, is in passages such as this, "We cannot doubt that mighty God has always ruled mankind.", "he soon forgets his destiny, and disregards the honours given him of God, the Ruler of Glory", "..and then may wise God, the Holy Lord, give glory in battle to whichever of us He should think fitting", and also, "…the Lord wove the webs of destiny." These certain passages show that the people of those times had a lot of belief in God, not only as the creator of everything, but also as the person who .....

argument. Through the effective use of all three of these tools, this
poem conveys a strong meaning and persuasive argument.
The poem's use of excellent diction helps to more clearly
define what the author is saying. Words like "guttering", "choking",
and "drowning" not only show how the man is suffering, but that he is
in terrible pain that no human being should endure. Other words like
writhing and froth-corrupted say precisely how the man is being
tormented. Moreover, the phrase "blood shod" shows how the troops
have been on their feet for days, never resting. Also, the fact that
the gassed man was "flung" into t .....

Four Virtues Of Perseverance, Patience, Loyalty, And Appreciation
<view this essay>.... don't feel like doing or want to do, such as school work, chores, etc. When I want something done though, I can and will get it done in a short amount of time. I already have perseverance in me, I just need to work on using it on everything I do, not just when I want to do it.
This now brings me to my second virtue, patience. Patience is needed to do just about anything. I think that most of the time I have a lot of patience, but just when I need it the most it disappears on me. For example, I have been trying to sell my horse for a long time now. It started last year, but I really wasn't persistent at advertising her or getting her sold. Then a year g .....

Orwell Critizism
<view this essay>.... abuses of power. Orwell's entire purpose of writing the novel was to worn against the dangers of society forming a totalitarian society. He effectively creates a story that almost completely parallels the history of the Russian revolution.
Although I do think this is a great book I believe it has some flaws. One of the major flaws with the writing of this book is that if the reader does not have any prior knowledge of the Russian revolution then he will surely miss most of the important aspects of the book. I do not think Orwell took into account his audience when he wrote this book. He must have known that not everyone who would read his great work .....

Kohlberg And His Scale Of Matu
<view this essay>.... of morality, which wins approval from parents, teachers and peers, as explicated by L. Kohlberg. The third and highest level is "the morality of self-accepted principles." This level also deals with the intellectual side of a child, which helps involve a moral system. While morality is considered to be a part of life, many people are now realizing how it can be used to evaluate a character in a book. The novel The Bean Trees is about a young woman who struggles to get through life's choices and decisions on her own with a baby in her possession. Taylor, the main character in the book, reaches the highest level and stage of moral development according to Kohlbe .....

Spoon River
<view this essay>.... in this poem. There are, however, a couple of metaphors in this poem. They are found in the lines: "...you liberals and navigators into realms intellectual, you sailors through heights imaginative, blown about by erratic currents tumbling into air pockets, you Margaret Fuller Slacks, Petits, and Tennessee Claflin Shopes, you found... how hard at the last it is to keep the soul from splitting into cellular atoms." The quotes are metaphors of the people who are always changing their minds because of what other people say and end up doing something they regret so badly, they begin to fall apart emotionally and financially. "While we seekers of earth's tre .....
