.... and mythology, Song of Solomon is also rife with the cold, hard facts of reality. Did Milkman actually become airborne or was he merely a man, consistently trying to escape reality? Toni Morrison's, Song of Solomon, was inspired in part, by All God's Chillun Had Wings (Andrews et al 103). According to this folk tale, at one time all Africans could fly. Through transgressions, they lost the ability of flight. On occasion, someone would shake off the weight of their burdens and be able to fly. Only a select few held onto remnants of the memory of flight. According to a legend in Hurston, the transgression, was eating salt. The Africans brought to Jamaica .....

This family apparently had money and because of their social status, felt it was alright to treat animals and people, that weren’t of their caliber, as if they meant nothing to society. There was a great deal of class conflict between the family that lived on the farm, the Jones’, and the Pilkingtons. The Jones’ owed money to the Pilkingtons and they were taunted throughout the movie about it. On the other hand, the animals had personalities of their own and were holding me .....

.... the way they treat the Fromes. Otherwise, the audience might find the fact that a young engineer is judging the people a bit strange. However, the change results in a lot more dialogue and interaction between the narrator and the people in the town. This is different from the detachment the narrator has which is prevalent in the novel. The movie adequately captures the bleak and dreary mood in the novel. The camera shows the Frome household in the middle of nowhere, with no houses nearby, in the middle of winter. This, with the addition of appropriate music, creates a bleak atmosphere, and there is no doubt in the audience’s mind of an impending sense of .....

.... and the king Claudius. From behind this mask they give the impression of a person who is sincere and true, in reality they are overwhelmed with lies and evil. Hamlet is spied on many times in the play. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are two of Hamlets childhood friends who when asked by the king, try to find out what is troubling the young prince. Both help to add to the theme by showing their appearance of being Hamlets friends. The pair goes to Hamlet pretending to be his friends when in truth they are only there because the king asked them to find the truth. Hamlet quickly reveals the truth and says, "Were you not sent for/ And there is a kind of confession in .....

I recall using times such as this to have heart-to-heart talks with the sole person who understood my every thought. He talked to me as if everything I had to say was of great importance, regardless of the topic. As I reflect more on this memory I realize my is a lot like the coffee he always had in his hand. The coffee provided him with warmth and comfort. In the same way, was my source of warmth and comfort. He was always there for me .....
