Most of the novel is told through Joan's own thoughts and memories. Because of the way the author chose to tell the story, we are able to learn a lot about the protagonist's troubled adolescence. Joan harbors a lot of resentment and anger towards her mother because of the serious emotional and mental abuse that she was put through. As a teenager, Joan was morbidly obese which is what encouraged her mother's mistreatment and condescending attitude. A good example of this can be found when Joan's mother says t .....

.... understand how this deception is accomplished it is important to examine the major turning points in Alex’s life, and how Burgess presents them. To begin, Burgess displays Alex’s villainous disposition, which causes the reader to hate and resent him. Through the aid of the State’s treatment Alex is reformed, at which point Burgess allows the reader to determine and develop an opinion of whether this treatment is morally acceptable or not. In the end however it is obvious that Alex has become a true "Clockwork Orange’ and despite the previous opinion of the reader, Burgess reveals the outcome in a way that causes a sense of relief and is pleased to see .....

If I were Prospero, I would have a severe monthly payment punishment-plan installed for Caliban. Near the end of the play, after Properso reveals the conspiracies of all those against him, there is no harsh punishment as one would imagine. He basically just demands repentance. Forgiveness is one of the themes in this play, and here Prospero demonstrates it. Even though Caliban conspires with Stephano and Trinculo to kill him, he refrains from punishing Caliban ( .....

.... there is an opportunity for the daughters to get married. A few days later there is a ball in the neighbourhood during which Mr. Bingley greatly admires Jane, the eldest of the Bennet daughters. Mr. Bingley is a very friendly young man and so everybody likes him, but his friend Mr. Darcy is very proud and arrogant. He only dances and talks with people from his party and as Mr. Bingley asks him to dance with Elizabeth Bennet, who is almost as beautiful as her elder sister Jane, but he declines because he doesn't find her beautiful enough. I interviewed an immigrant , not from the same ethnic back ground as the sisters , but a Japanese immigrant . This was a very interesting conversation because there were a lot similarities in adjusting to living in the United States . This book shows a viewpoint of the sisters coming to America . I classify this as American literature because the book was written in a style that would make it easy to read for a people to read here . There is mixed language , and there is really no strong presence of Spanish being .....
