The Stone Boy
<view this essay>.... accident or a blessing for Arnold. In fact, the shooting of Eugie was a terrible accident performed by a regretful little boy.
In the first few lines of the story, the reader can get a clear sense of the relationship between Arnold and Eugie. Arnold was six years younger than Eugie and the relationship verified this fact. Arnold was always the weaker and the subordinate. Eugie was a typical older brother-complete with taunting and when necessary, protection for his younger brother.
Arnold admired Eugie more than anyone and when the shotgun went off, Arnold was so devastated that he denied the fact that he had even shot his brother. He thought that if continue .....

To Kill A Mocking Bird 2
<view this essay>.... Lee uses symbolism extensively throughout this story, and much of it refers to the problems of racism in the South
during the early twentieth century. Harper Lee's effective use of racial symbolism and allegory can be seen by
studying various examples from the book, namely the actions of the children, of the racist whites, and of Atticus
Finch.
One of the more effective allegories in the novel is the building of a snowman by Jem and Scout. There was not
enough snow to make a snowman entirely out of snow, so Jem made a foundation out of dirt and then covered it
with what snow they had. If the snowman was made completely o .....

<view this essay>.... right, and people can become better persons.
The theme -how society treats its outcasts- can be seen in how the poor and homeless are are treated, and that is like animals.
The rich treat them as though they are inferior and that they have no feelings or any form of intelligence. They are also not given the right to vote, which makes them not citizens of that nation.
This theme is universal because every nation in the world has some sort of outcasts in their land. In America, this theme can be related to the blacks. In the beginning of the twentieth century they did not have as much rights and oppurtunities as the whites. Another example of how .....

<view this essay>.... of Marvell’s poem is to "seize the day." The speaker is trying to convince the woman that it is much better to have sex now than to save her virginity for the future. The man wants to experience the pleasure now, while the woman would rather save herself until they are married. Marvell’s message here seems to be that we shouldn’t be worrying so much about exactly when and where to do things, but just to take things as they come and enjoy them. This theme relates to all aspects of life, not just sex.

Mrs. Hoffman disliked Indians, perhaps, because her husband had had an affair with one. She heard about it and left her husband for a couple of weeks. Celestine had arrived late to class one morning. As she walked into the classroom, she could feel the teacher’s disgusting glance. After class was over, Mrs. Hoffman grabbed Celestine’s arm tightly as she was about to leave. Mrs. Hoffman had heard that Celestine had been to the bars so she threatened to send Cel .....

Clockwork Orange
<view this essay>.... good morals and conditioning an automated response to "evil." Burgess enforces the idea of the medical model of corrections, in terms of rehabilitating an offender, which is up to the individual. That one should determine the cause and then find an exclusive treatment to resolve that individual's case, then apply it. This is the case with the character Alex, a juvenile delinquent introduced into prisonization then conditioned by governmental moral standards. This lack of personal moral choice imposed upon Alex creates conflicting situations in which he has no control over. This is apparent when trying to readjust into society. As conflicts arise wi .....

Ecclesiates
<view this essay>.... has been dubbed by many as one of the most difficult to read, yet most fascinating books of the Bible. What makes Ecclesiastes such a literary phenomena? Its author, its many modern connections, its relationship to the book of Proverbs and its message contribute greatly to the stature of this fine work of art.
The author of the book of Ecclesiastes is called Qoheleth (or Koheleth). That is the Hebrew word for teacher or philosopher. This name acts as a label of occupation but it doesn’t place a specific identity on the author. However, there are a number of clues in the book (and in others) that give us a pretty strong probability that the aut .....
