become accessible to him. In real time, Marvell gives examples of her
aging and how she will go to the grave with her pride if she doesn't give
in. Finally, the use of "optimum time" plays on her emotions of how
sweet the opportunity to make love to her would be. Marvell tells his
mistress that the act would be almost animalistic and intense. Throughout
the poem, he uses the phases of time in an attempt to frighten her into
having sex with him.
All three stanza's in the poem represent a different time frame.
The first gives his mistress a feeling of unconditional love. He leads
her to believe he would give all he has to her as long as tim .....

Green Grass: Lionel Red Dog
<view this essay>.... he is taken to jail and, while
there, he loses his job.
This, in a way, is very similar to what happened to AIM (American
Indian Movement) some years back. The natives were upset about the
Government's neglect of treaties and grants. The natives held a peaceful
rally in a town, then they all packed up, and moved it to Wounded Knee.
Wounded Knee was the sight of a terrible massacre in the late
1800's. The Natives were traveling to a neighboring camp, when soldiers
came upon them, and "captured" the natives. The natives were asked to give
up all weapons, and a misunderstanding led the soldiers to believe there
was a resistance. The soldiers opened fir .....

"When?" asked the colonel.
"When what, sir?"
"Now you're asking me questions again."
"I am sorry, sir. I'm afraid I don't understand your
question."(79)
Later in the interrogation, the colonel is so twisted in his conversation that
he no longer wants to know when Clevinger said that he could not be punished.
He now wants to know when Clevinger did not say that he could not be punished.
Clevinger quickly rebuts and states, "I always didn't say you couldn't punish me,

Stereotypes In Woolf’s A Room Of One’s Own
<view this essay>.... if you look carefully you may find it for yourselves in the course of what I am going to say. (Page 5)”
Stereotypes are often placed on certain types of literature. Non-fiction has, in many cases, been given a very dry and straightforward voice, while fiction takes up the opposite; it is allowed to be metaphoric and abstract. With the stereotypical view in mind, a reader would not expect the above excerpt to come from a piece of non-fiction literature. The classification of “non-fiction” guarantees that the personas depicted in the tale will be real people; Woolf’s non-fiction tale reads like a story - a personal anecdote shared with the reader by a persona wh .....

Juanita Platero's "Chee's Daughter": Character's Environment Reveals A Great Deal About Personality
<view this essay>.... antagonist Old Man Fat.
Chee's setting reflects his caring nature. He shows this by caring
for the land he lives on like a father would do for his son. He shows that
he cares for the land by thinking that "if he sang the proper songs, if he
cared for the land faithfully, it would not forsake him now..."(82) Chee
is trying to grow food and he thinks that if he cares for the land and
respects it that the earth would in turn make the food grow well. Another
way to show this is how Chee thought that if he "Take care of the land and
it will take care of you."(81) Chee cared and respected the land and in
turn the land gave him food for which he would to barter bac .....
