Comparison Between The Red Roo
<view this essay>.... understands and feels sympathy for the ‘crying’ ghost.
In ‘The Red Room’ the young man is on a mission to explore and expose the tale of the ‘The Red Room’ that is supposedly haunted, because he says,
‘It’s my own choosing’
He is in that house to go into ‘The Red Room’ to prove that the
‘Spiritual terrors’

‘Eight and twenty years you have lived and never seen, the likes of this house.’
This seems to be a more direct and intense approach to the ghost. On the other hand the storyteller in the ‘Fart .....

The Metamorphosis: Patriarchy
<view this essay>.... examine the instances of
patriarchy in "The Metamorphosis" and compare it to instances in Japan.
In the beginning of "The Metamorphosis," we can tell from the way
Gregor's family is organized that Gregor is the 'father figure,' in that
he is the primary breadwinner and the one who makes most of the decisions
for his family. On page 1781, we can see Gregor thinking that me would
"take charge of the family's affairs again," hence showing that before he
turned into a bug, he was the dominant person in the family. He is the only
person in the family who actually goes out to earn money. His father has
already retired, while his mother and sister, following the .....

shot after the GIs were "done with their business." This was only one of
many. Most of the murders were conducted, BY ORDER OF OFFICERS, to
round-up the families from their homes, forced into ditches, and shot.
Women dove to cover their children. Later, children just old enough to
walk crawled out from under their mutilated mothers' bodies, only to be
shot as target practice by the GIs. It is later estimated that
approximately 500 civilians were murdered, and (probably) no VC were in
the area.
I could go into detail about the killing. However, most of the book
was devoted to the time before the massacre, and afterward. The officers
and GIs of "C .....

The Things They Carried 2
<view this essay>.... directly involved in the hostilities, the baneful suffering is usually physical, emotional, psychological, and frequently, death. For the men that do survive death, there is always a price to pay, which is a transformation from what they were before to what they unwillingly must or will become due to the pressures of the war. Moreover, if the grounds for the war are ambiguous and hence soldiers do not comprehend it or acquire a sense of purpose or mission, as was in the Vietnam War, the toll on the human spirit is even greater. Acknowledging this, Tim O'Brien in his vignette, " The Things They Carried," which is about a platoon of soldiers and their experien .....
