Analysis Of The Storm
<view this essay>.... their ability to demonstrate the theme.
The subject of adultery was first introduced soon after Alcee asked Calixta if he may take refuge from the approaching storm within her house. That was also the first point when the author lets us know that Calixta “may” still have feelings for Alcee. This was shown clearly in the story when it says, “ His voice and her own startled her as if from a trance…” Immediately after this the description of the setting changed from a outdoor relax feel to an indoor tense feel. This also lead to the feelings of both characters towards each other, which was shown when the room was described, .....

The Yellow Wall Paper
<view this essay>.... character.
In “The Yellow Wallpaper,” the narrator is also the author. Charolotte Gilman writes about her struggle with insanity. Her imagination slowly extinguished and dwindled because of attitudes present in this era. The story takes place in a house in the countryside. John’s plan was to get his wife away from all the hustle and bustle and have her relax. John, a doctor, along with another doctor, gave John’s wife a prescription of exercise, rest and absolutely no writing. They believed (along with society) that this was the best thing for people suffering from insanity. John never came out and said she was going insane. He .....

Catcher In The Rye Symbolism
<view this essay>.... years, just about to go on to the hard times of adulthood. Holden asks the taxi driver about the ducks: "I mean does someone come around in a truck or something and take them away, or do they fly away by themselves-go south or something"(82). Holden's questions of what the ducks do in the winter foreshadow Holden's own plans. Holden wants to know if they either fly away to the south to escape the coldness and the hardships of winter like the way Holden wants to move to the west to get away from the phonies and escape the hardships of adulthood. Or if they are dependent on a parental figure such as the truck that comes to their rescue and takes them away si .....

A Stranger Is Watching
<view this essay>.... tragedy.When a new women,Sharon comes into Steve's life,Neil
rejects her.Neil thinks that if Sharon and his father get married ,his father will send him away. When Neil
and Sharon are held hostage together, Neil's feelings for Sharon change;he begins to see her as a nice
person and a motherlike figure.I felt the author built this relationship up well so that the story would have a
happy ending.
I also like how the author made the character traits of the protagonist completely conflict with the
antagonist. The protagonist,Steve is a successful man with a family and no problems;at least in the mind of
the antagonist. The antagonist has problems with females, .....

Blanche comes to Stella in an unbalanced state of mind in need of her sister's aid. The impression is given that this isn't the first time Stella has been there to help Blanche through a time of trouble. As much as she needs her help and as much as she respects her, Blanche strongly disapproves of her sister's new life. Stella tolerates Blanche's continual criticism of her husband, home and friends very well. From this and many other incidents throughout the play we see what a tolerant and adaptable person Stella is.

To Kill A Mocking Bir
<view this essay>.... The second difference was in terms of emotions. The book was more emotional than the movie because it was more descriptive. When Tom Robinson was convicted for a rape that he did not even commit, the book made the situation more dramatic because of how well it was described. The book was less emotional because the event just occurred. There were no in-depth descriptions of the situation. Another example of this point was when Boo Radley had saved Jem and Scout from Mr. Ewell. When Scout told Boo it was alright for him to pet Jem, it was better described in the book.
The third point is that the pageant the night that Jem and Scout were attacked w .....

The Trial By Kafka And The Stranger By Camus: Flaws And Failures Of The Judicial System
<view this essay>.... affect them. This helps the authors show their views on
the judicial systems failures much more clearly. If the reader is able to
feel what the main character is going through because of the judicial
system they are much more likely to agree with the authors views.
The plot of the two novels is very similar. Both men are on trial
and are sentenced to death because of flaws in the judicial systems. The
specifics about each trial and the different flaws are entirely different,
however.
The purpose of the plot in The Trial is to show the downfalls of a
judicial system that is run without the public’s knowledge or input. Kafka
wants the reader see the flaws .....
