The Life Of Author Harper Lee
<view this essay>.... Finch. Lee’s older sister had many of the same qualities as the character Boo Radley. Her sister was a recluse who rarely left the house. Another influence on Lee’s novel was the Scottsboro case that took place in Alabama when Lee was only five years old. The Scottsboro case was the case against nine black men raping two white women. Even though evidence proved that the young black men never raped the two white women, the jury found them all guilty. This case left a lasting impression on Lee. She used this case as a rough basis for some events that took place in To Kill a Mockingbird.

Amadeus
<view this essay>.... fame thus rests on his ability to annihilate that child prodigy, Wolfgang Mozart. In analyzing the two composers, Salieri and Mozart, there is a distinct line that clearly divides them. Salieri’s operas receive astounding receptions, making them the “talk of the city,” shaking the roofs, buzzing the cafes, and even the name Salieri “sounds throughout all of Europe” (2,3). The reason for Salieri’s success, as well as many musicians of the eighteenth century, is because they have become enslaved by the well-to-do and hence are “no better than servants” (1,3). Tom Clancy: His Life, His Style, His Books
<view this essay>.... Clancy's dream of becoming a writer was not fulfilled until
he wrote The Hunt For Red October in 1984. Until then, he was an insurance
salesman whose previous stories had been turned down. That is another
thing that I like about Mr. Clancy, he doesn't give up. Clancy once said,
"In America, there ain't no excuses. You can go out and do anything you
damn well please if you try hard enough."2 Finally, this author, was the
only one that didn't put me to sleep with a warm cup of milk.

Letter To Charles Darwin
<view this essay>.... expedition or live like
all the other scientists, instead you boarded the boat, H.M.S. Beagle, and
brought with you only the necessities. You learned more as an individual on
that trip than most scientists do with all their intricate tools. I, like
you, gave up luxuries at a point in my life in order to live deliberately,
to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn
what it had to teach, and not , when I came to die, to discover that I had
not lived.
Following the advice of my friend Emerson, I, like you, went out
and experienced nature as a transparent eyeball, observing as much as I
could. I noticed the Pickerel under the .....
