Emily Dickinson
<view this essay>.... The notion that Dickinson was extremely reclusive is a popular one, but it is at best a partial truth. Emily never married and certainly became more selective over the years about the company she kept; Dickinson was far more sociable than most descriptions would have us believe. She frequently entertained guests at her home and the home of her brother and sister-in-law during her 20’s and 30’s. A friend commented by saying that Emily had so Many people at one of her parties that she never got a chance to speak with her. Napoleon's Career
<view this essay>.... He not only levied the vassal kingdoms in Spain, Italy,
and Germany but also summoned Austria and Prussia to furnish their share
of men and goods. Altogether, Napoleon could count on nearly 700,000 men
of 20 nationalities of whom more than 600,000 crossed the border. Grown
far beyond its original intended size, the army was difficult to assemble
and hard to feed. Between Tilsit and Moscow, there lay over 600 miles of
hostile barren countryside. Because of lack of supplies and the difficulty
to feed the large army, Napoleon's plan was simple: bring about a battle,
defeat the Russian army, and dictate a settlement. Apparently neither he
nor his soldiers, wh .....

Andrew Jackson
<view this essay>.... Swiss, and Native Americans.
Descended from Jonathan Edwards, Jackson possessed a reckless spirit and
flaring temper, even as a youth. To further emphasize these negative
traits, he was poorly educated and only interested in warlike activities.
Other factors contributed to his irritability, such as "the big itch" (a
skin disease he had in youth). Also, he tended to slobber, which made him
humiliated and extremely sensitive to criticism. All these childhood
factors added up and left Andrew Jackson as a touchy, irascible man.
As the oldest man ever elected to the presidency, he was sixty-one
and perhaps the most unhealthy. He had two bullets permanentl .....
