On J.j. Thomson
<view this essay>.... were waves traveling in a hypothetical invisible fluid called the ether (similar to the quintessence of Aristotle). At that time, many physicists thought that this ether was needed to carry light waves through apparently empty space. Maybe cathode rays were similar to light waves? Another possibility was that cathode rays were some kind of material particle. Yet many physicists, including J.J. Thomson, thought that all material particles themselves might be some kind of structure built out of ether, so these views were not so far apart.
Experiments were needed to resolve the uncertainties. When physicists moved a magnet near the glass, they found they co .....

Dustin Hoffman

Benjamin is usually a pretty quiet and shy person and Dustin Hoffman plays
this character well. It seems like he has this blank look on his face
throughout the whole film. This was one of my two favorite films he did.
The second film I watched was “Little Big Man.” It was hard for me
to really look at Hoffman's performance because I didn't like his character.
At first I thought that the producer of that film had casted the wrong
actor but after watching more of the film I changed my mind. His character
in this movie was probably difficult to act because of the events that took
place in the film. His character's personality and surround .....

Many actually believed that these expansionist moves were encouraged by détente. Ultimately, the expectations that détente would achieve more were held by both powers. It was the failure to satisfy these expectations which led to its demise. Kissinger suggested that "détent .....

Both the characters Tom and Huck are similar to Twain in their spirit of adventure (Unger 193). Throughout his writings Twain wrote about the opression of the rich and poor, the strong and weak, and the proud and humble (Baxter 1). In his autobiography he wrote “All negroes were friends o .....
